For the third year in a row, the readers of SB MAGAZINE have voted
the HARMON DREW SUPER GROUP as Shreveport-Bossier's FAVORITE LOCAL BAND (2003-2004).

For the second year, KEN CARDINO, the H. D. Super Group's lead guitar picker, was selected in the same poll as Shreveport-Bossier's MOST TALENTED MUSICIAN. These awards are very much appreciated, and we thank our fans for voting us these honors.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT MUSICALLY INCLINED LOUISIANA POLS?
Re: THE HARMON DREW SUPER GROUP!

It strikes us there's something peculiarly Looziana about an appeals court judge fronting a fourteen-piece show band with two leggy blonde chic singers.

Yeah, yeah, we've had a hillbilly singer for a governor, and NO's got the crooning DA, but we're talking Shreveport-Bossier here, for chrissakes. This is a bar band, fronted by an elected judge, in Bible Belt country.

We've been aware of Harmon's -- ah, the judge's -- musical bent for some time, but we've never actually been favored with the up-close, live and in person Super Group experience. A prominent influence peddler assures us they're "excellent!" (But he's an influence peddler. That's what he's supposed to say.) And one of the Capitol's ink-stained types says Harmon's been jamming since his Kappa Sig days at LSU (where he fratboy'd up with a current candidate for guv and a former state treasurer, amongst others).

What does this have to do with anything? Jim Leggett and Babs Zimmerman recently sent along the Super Group's "Still Kickin' " CD, on which they cover "Brown Eyed Girl," "Mustang Sally," "Brickhouse," etc. There's also an extra six minutes of video.

  The wedding went well. The reception and dinner preceded handsomely.

Then you sat down at the piano.

And the place exploded. 

Never in my long and adventuresome life have I seen so many folks from ages 6 to 80 have so much fun on a dance floor. It was an evening I will cherish forever.

  Thanks so much for making the wedding reception such a success. Everyone has told us that it was the most fun wedding ever and that you all were the best band they have ever heard. Thanks for helping us show these Texas people how to have a good time!  I think we have set a precedent! 

I just hope you are available when our other daughter gets married, which will probably be within the next year. I guess since she caught the bouquet and he caught the garter (after three attempts) it must be inevitable. 

The songs are still the same, but you make them sound better than ever. And we loved the horns and vocalists.

  Just a note to say "Thank you" for a wonderful evening at Cypress Bend for my birthday party on June 21. To say that the band was great is quite an understatement - You all were awesome!

There were a number of people there from south Louisiana who had never heard your group before and they were most impressed. Of course, those from north Louisiana already knew how great you were - and they, too, were most complimentary - declaring how super your performance was! Of course, I knew it would be.

Also, I want to thank you for making my party so personal; my family greatly appreciated this, and I especially appreciate the attention you gave my grandson, Duncan. He had a great time!! Renee also enjoyed singing with your group (don't you want to take her on the road with you??). Renee has a picture of you that is quite good and says she will send it to you.

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you!! Maybe we can do it again for my 75th birthday!

  I cannot express enough "thank yous" to you and your band. Everyone at the wedding was really carried away with the music.

I am a little late in writing this letter to you, but my husband and I want to thank you for your great performance and your impeccable professionalism as leader of the Harmon Drew Super Group. We so enjoyed having you play at our daughter Emily's wedding reception. Emily had decided early on that it was very important to her to have a great band. When we told her we knew you from our seventies medical school dances, she was hooked! From our first communication with you, to our last, you and your band members were everything we expected in entertainment!... Thank you for a job well-done. You did everything exactly as you stated. It's so rewarding to do business with honorable and professional people. Everyone told us how much they enjoyed "the band" and we could tell by all of our guests who danced that they were enjoying your music immensely!

We wish you continued success as one of the premier bands of NW Louisiana, and I am sure you are booked for many months to come. We would highly recommend you to anyone who can afford you!!!

Thank you again for making Emily's and Stephen's reception a memorable event. Except for the A.C. not working, it was an otherwise perfect evening!

  We got back from our honeymoon late last night. We had a blast in Aruba. We have the best wedding memories. Y'all did a fabulous job. I could not have asked for more! Thanks so much. I hope that I get to hear y'all again in the near future.
